Rasmus Lerdorf Issues Call for Documentation Push

Posted by on June 19, 2009

It’s a well-known fact that PHP’s documentation system is one of the best examples of how a cooperative, open environment can produce great value. The PHP Manual offers a complete reference of not only the language itself, but also all the various extensions, as well as a number of tutorials focused on several aspects of the platform.

In an e-mail sent today the developer mailing list, PHP creator Rasmus Lerdorf has made a public call for a new push in bringing the documentation up to speed with the many (and significant) changes that the entire PHP platform has undergone recently:

I would like to encourage everyone on this list to spend a little bit of time looking at the parts of the documentation that cover things you are familiar with.  Or even just going through some of the doc bugs and helping out in general.

If you are interested in participating, you can view the open issues on the PHP Project’s own bug tracker. Remember: the manual is everyone’s resource—which also makes it everyone’s responsibility to maintain!
