September 2015 Issue: Security Boot Camp

Posted by on September 1, 2015

We’ve just released the September 2015 issue of php[architect] magazine today. Our focus this month is all things security.

In this issue, we have an overview of the various techniques that malicious users can use to attack your application, a deep dive into how passwords can be stored securely and how PHP’s built in password functions make this easier, a look at how to setup a PHP based Intrusion Detection System, and how to use PDO to guard against SQL injection attacks

Elsewhere, there’s a look at how to think like a functional programmer, an introduction to using Sculpin for generating a static site, an interview with Elizabeth Naramore, and more.

Oscar still remembers downloading an early version of the Apache HTTP server at the end of 1995, and promptly asking "Ok, what's this good for?" He started learning PHP in 2000 and hasn't stopped since. He's worked with Drupal, WordPress, Zend Framework, and bespoke PHP, to name a few. Follow him on Google+.

Great issue,

Really looking forward to getting deeper into the security aspects of application development. Just posted an article using Expose as Laravel Middleware after reading the article in this edition.
